Farloe Warhawk enhanced his reputation as an outstanding prospect by winning the Puppy Trophy at Shawfield on Scottish Derby night.

Running out of the blue jacket, Barrie Draper’s runner came home with a time of 28.83, almost breaking the track record over 480 metres in the process.

It was Farloe Warhawk’s first run away from his home track of Sheffield, but he looked comfortable at the Scottish track, as he got away to a blistering start to go clear at the second bend, before finishing ahead of Moorfoot Bob in Trap Six and Congo Hope in Trap Three.

In the opening race of the night, Moorfoot Maggie justified late support in the market to win the Stayers Trophy over 670 metres.

The striped jacket running made every yard of the trip, where she held off the late challenge of favourite Witton Ace who was running on the inside out of Trap Two.

In the Sprint Trophy at 9.05, there was a thrilling finish between the two market leaders You Mind Me and Jumeirah Dubai. There looked to be very little between them as they crossed the line at Shawfield, before the judge called Trap Two Jumeirah Dubai the winner by the shortest of margins.

Neither of the 7/4 joint favourites in the greyhound betting got off to the best starts, with You Mind Me out the slowest of the six runners.

However, trouble at the first bend did allow the September 09 dog to get into the contest at the half way stage. He then took the lead at the final bend, but Jumeirah Dubai came again in the closing stages to get up on the ?yola-link-is-coming=trueline.
