Rain could be falling in the punters favour

Betting on greyhounds is never an exact science, but there are certain factors to look out for that can give punters an edge.

For example it has been apparent recently at Romford that the wide seeded runners have been at a significant advantage when there has been rain at the track.

Wet conditions can play havoc with the preparation of a track, when the rain gets particularly heavy it can often prevent a tracks ground staff from being able to get the tractor onto the circuit to repair the condition of the sand and this can lead to some crucial differences when the dogs take to the track. Although this isn't the kind of thing that people looking at th Greyhound derby betting will always be able to take advantage of, it's definitely worth bearing in mind when casting your eye over the list of runners in any race.

Any bias in the going is often accentuated on a card of equally graded performers. The reason for this is that all he runners in each race are of very similar abilities, so if ground conditions are the same all over the track a close run race can be expected. However when a variance like heavy rain steps in it can really upset the apple cart and eagle-eyed punters can take advantage of this by seeing which trap the conditions are favouring and then backing the dogs running out of it.

Any edge is vital in punting, but spotting a going bias early on at greyhound meeting can be a good way to make some nice profits.
